I have the same problems durng the colder season. I don't really turn on the heater much at home even when it gets cold to conserve energy. That is why the bananas doesn't ripe well in our house during colder weather. Bananas ripe the best in warmer temperature.
But the odd thing is my kitchen isn't cool; the downstairs people control the heat and my attic apartment gets so hot I sometimes crack the windows... except in the kitchen because that's also where my Mexican oregano and epazote plants are spending the winter.
At any rate, I appreciate knowing I'm not the only one who's experienced this.
